Give yourself a ridiculous name, found a nation, and rule it with the real habits of history's vainest autocrats. Every habit is true.
How it works
Name yourself. Every autocrat needs a grand title and a legend.
Found your nation. Choose its name, capital, motto and flag, then proclaim it.
Reign. Each turn, adopt a habit a real ruler actually had. Keep the people, the army and the treasury on your side.
Leave a legacy. Die in office and you win. Grandeur is your score: it decides how history ranks you. Try every kind of habit and reach 100 grandeur too, and you become the Perfect Autocrat.

A neighbour is retiring
A crisis comes every three habits. Choose how to handle it: each choice gains something and costs something.
How to play
Phase 1, Name: build a grand title, epithet and legend. Roll the dice or type your own. The slider under each box sets how ridiculous the dice get.
Phase 2, Nation: name your country, capital and motto, design a flag, and proclaim it. You can download the proclamation.
Phase 3, Reign: each turn, choose one of three habits. Every one is something a real ruler actually did. After you choose, you see the true story.
Each habit adds grandeur and costs something: the People, the Army or the Treasury, as shown on the card. If any of the three reaches zero, you fall. Some habits rebuild a pillar. Every three habits, a crisis forces a choice. And the grander you get, the more jealous the generals become.
Phase 4, Legacy: die in office of old age (the age is shown) and you win. Grandeur is your score, from 0 to 100, and it sets your rank in history: from a nobody in a nice hat, through a respectable tyrant (40) and a feared autocrat (60), up to a peerless autocrat (100). Go past 100 and you are off the scale: there are ranks beyond it, and a gold seal. Die in office with all 8 kinds of habit and 100 grandeur, and you are THE PERFECT AUTOCRAT.
